New Research

Over the last 20 years there has been a lot of research, and many new uses and benefits found for infrared energy. One goal of infrared sauna manufactures is to create a sauna that emits infrared in the so-called “Vital Range” of 7 to 14 microns, ideally with much of the wavelength delivered at 9.4 microns. This is because some Asian medical research suggests that this frequency causes water molecules to resonate or vibrate, which in turn can accelerate the release of toxins from the body.

This research, and these claims are understandably controversial in the medical community. We do not take a position here but if this is your primary reason for buying a sauna we don’t want you to be duped into buying a product that does not deliver good FIR performance in this range.

Whether the true medical benefits are fully understood or not, we will only sell you a sauna with good FIR performance that we can independently verify. We never rely on a manufacturer’s claims. In fact, many of the major manufacturer’s do NOT deliver decent FIR. Beware of Bad Science and Marketing Hype.

About Detoxification

It’s common knowledge that people are exposed to toxic chemicals in their air, water, and food (including food preservatives, additives, synthetic flavors and flavor enhancers), as well as from other common items like plastics and household products. Whether you ingest, inhale, or absorb these toxins these substances are either broken down and metabolized or stored within the body.

For example, researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analyzed samples of blood and urine from 2,500 people and identified dozens of man-made chemicals that were being stored with their bodies (Second National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NCEH Pub. No. 02-0716 (2003)).

Four Canadian politicians had their blood tested and found it contained a mix of substances including 54 carcinogens, 37 hormone disruptors, 16 respiratory toxins, 54 reproductive or developmental toxins and 33 neurotoxins.

Suana proponents will point out that the skin is the body's largest organ and second only to the liver for detoxification. Deep sweating can help detoxify your body as it rids itself of an accumulation of potentially carcinogenic heavy metals (lead, mercury, zinc, nickel, cadmium) as well as alcohol, nicotine, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.

We have seen lab results that back up these claims, and there are many books and articles out there on this subject. However, we always encourage your independent research.
