TheraSauna has always had the best far infrared performance
in the industry and all models have received a stylistic facelift
for 2007. These units are designed and manufactured in the USA.
TheraSauna is able to keep its frontrunner status due to a proprietary
patent that reduces voltage to the infrared emitters as the sauna
cabin reaches the specified temperature. This means that the
emitters never turn off during the sauna session, but rather
cool down to deliver the longer far-infrared rays rather than
having to shut off completely (as with all other saunas). The
effect is a tremendous increase in the amount of far-infrared
produced during the sauna session.
Think of yourself lying outside in the sun. It’s
warm out when suddenly a cloud goes by that blocks the sunshine.
The air temperature hasn’t changed, but now you feel
cool. That’s because you lost the infrared radiant heat
from the sun. The same thing occurs in most infrared saunas
without TheraSauna's patented digital control system. The heaters
shut off after the cabin reaches the set temperature and you
immediately begin to feel cooler. You remain cool for 10 minutes
or so until the heaters kick back on. Besides being uncomfortable,
your body receives very little infrared.
The larger units are packed with 12 premium ceramic TheraMitter™'s
with a 96% radiant efficiency rating, each having a surface area
of roughly 56 square inches due to the concave and ribbed design.
Since infrared is emitted at right angles from a surface, this
shape and overall surface area ensures even distribution of the
infrared throughout the sauna cabin and provides an even, comfortable
heat. The two smaller units scale back the number of heaters
to 10 or 7 but maintain the same ratio of heater surface to cabin
volume. In our tests the emitter surface temperatures cycled
independently between 100 and 600F degrees, producing the broadest
spectral range of far-infrared of any sauna we’ve tested.
As an option, you can by an upgraded controller that actually allows
you to fine tune the voltage to each emitter zone, giving you further
control over the infrared frequency you receive as well as allowing
you to program sauna sessions a week in advance. This controller
also includes the SpectraWave™ system which, at the punch
of a button sends a wave of infrared heat around your entire body
by varing the output of the emitters in a circulating pattern.
These units are manufactured using premium aspen wood, which is
the most hypoallergenic of all woods. The benches are reversible,
with a flat surface for reclining and a contoured surface for sitting.
All units include large glass doors that give a spacious, open
